This KMS bearing features a deep groove radial ball bearing construction. The design integrates the gear into the outer race of the bearing. The bearing was originally designed for a guide roller in an airline seat. It is constructed with acetal plastic for the races and fitted with SS316 balls. Glass balls can be substituted for a non magnetic/metallic capability for an additional price. MADE IN THE U.S.A

Case Study

Plastic Vs Steel

Cleanliness/Hygienic: Plastic bearings generally operate cleaner than metal bearings because they do not need lubrication, they are resistant to corrosion, and they can be washed down without the worry of re-lubing. This capability makes them a viable option for clean room environments, and wash down applications. A plastic bearing made from either PBT, PVDF or PEEK can be post sterilized by standard methods such as autoclave or Gamma.
